Scare up some Halloween fun with these holiday events

Article

Halloween is approaching, and the City of Redlands is offering a host of free, fun events to scare up some holiday spirit!

On Halloween, Tuesday, Oct. 31, Olive Avenue, stretching from Cajon to Center Street, will be turned into a Halloween Extravaganza! From 4 to 7 p.m. immerse yourself in a variety of entertaining activities including photos with spooky characters, bounce houses, live entertainment and food vendors. Following the main event, Olive Avenue will remain closed for Safe Trick or Treating until 9 p.m.

For years, homeowners along Olive Avenue have traditionally transformed their historic homes into spooky Halloween showcases while distributing candy to trick-or-treaters. City staff will supplement the supply of candy while supplies last, so remember to bring your trick-or-treat bags.

If you want to get an early start on Halloween, come dressed up and ready to haunt at Redlands Municipal Airport, 1755 Sessums Drive, from 4 to 7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 29, for Plane or Treat. Enjoy the bounce house, a dessert vendor and plenty of candy!

And the Halloween fun doesn’t stop once October ends. On Saturday, Nov. 4, get ready to DROP, SMASH, and COMPOST at the post-Halloween Pumpkin Smash event from 9 to 11 a.m. at the City parking structure on Citrus Avenue between Fifth and Sixth streets.

Our Pumpkin Smash Zone is the perfect place to say goodbye to your beloved Jack-o’-lanterns. Don’t just throw them away. Drop them into our smashing zone and watch them splatter in spectacular fashion! It’s an eco-friendly way to dispose of your pumpkins, reduce waste and contribute to a greener environment while having a blast doing it.

All events are free. For more information about the Halloween Extravaganza! Plane or Treat or the Pumpkin Smash, please visit cityofredlands.org/recreation or contact Recreation Division staff at (909) 798-7572 or by e-mail at RecreationStaff@cityofredlands.org.
