NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the City Council of the City of Redlands encourages residents to apply for a position on the following commissions and/or boards.

Commission/Board Application

TRAFFIC AND PARKING COMMISSION

The Traffic and Parking Commission carries on educational activities in traffic matters, supervises the preparation and publication of traffic reports, receives complaints relating to traffic matters, and recommends to the City Council ways and means of improving traffic conditions and the administration and enforcement of traffic regulations.  This commission also advises the City Council on the development of adequate parking for commercial and retail uses, recommend policies to encourage, develop and support adequate parking within the City, recommend actions for the establishment of long-term parking plans for the City and, in particular, the Downtown Redlands Business Area, and advises the City Council in the administration of resources for the development of parking.  The Commission may also assist other advisory groups such as the Planning Commission in matters relating to parking.

The Traffic and Parking Commission meets bi-monthly on the fourth Thursday of odd-numbered months at 6:00 p.m.

PARKS AND RECREATION COMMISSION

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission recommends to the City Council policies for the acquisition, development, maintenance and improvement of parks, public trails and open space areas, and for the planting, care and removal of landscaping and amenities in all parks, public trails and open space areas.  In addition, this commission’s duties relating to recreation include; using the Commissioners' skills, knowledge and experience to assist and advise the City Recreation Division staff; keeping the public informed about the city's recreation program; serving as a forum for the promotion of activities for the Recreation Division and the City’s community center; and serving as a forum for resident's suggestions, reactions, opinions, interests and needs regarding the City’s Recreation Division and its programs.

The Parks and Recreation Advisory Commission meets bi-monthly on the second Thursday of odd-numbered months at 4:00 p.m.

MUNICIPAL UTILITIES/PUBLIC WORKS COMMISSION

The Municipal Utilities/Public Works Commission serves in an advisory capacity to the City Council and advises and assists the Municipal Utilities and Engineering Director, City Manager and other city departments by providing citizen review and input concerning all aspects of the management and operation of public works projects and facilities, thereby providing a direct channel for utilization of the citizen expertise available in the community.

This Commission meets on the first Monday of even-numbered months at 4:00 p.m.

PLANNING COMMISSION

The Planning Commission prepares a comprehensive long term general plan for the physical development of the City and makes recommendations to the City Council relating to the maintenance of the General Plan, zoning administration,  environmental assessments, site plan and architectural review, subdivision planning, sign, parking and landscaping regulations, housing, historic preservation, and Measure "N" processing.

The Planning Commission meets on the second and fourth Tuesday of each month at 4:00 p.m.
