A.K. Smiley Public Library

Since 1894, Smiley Public Library has provided library services to the residents of Redlands. It seeks to provide, in accordance with the State Education Code, general diffusion of information and knowledge, a supplement to the formal system of free public education and shall be forever free to the inhabitants of Redlands.

Development Services Department

The Development Services Department  provides quality service to customers through professionalism, integrity, and the efficient use of resources.  The Department endeavors to enhance and protect the urban and natural environment of the city helping to ensure that  Redlands remains an ideal place to live and work.  Functional divisions include Building & Safety (building inspections, plan review and permit processing), Economic Development (business attraction and retention, workforce development and tourism promotion), Planning (land development, general plan, specific plans, long-range planning, and historic preservation), and Land Use Engineering (land development, civil engineering, grading, and improvements). The Department also administers the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program. 

Facilities & Community Services Department

Facilities & Community Services personnel ensure Redlands residents, businesses and visitors enjoy City services and facilities including parks, recreation and senior services, trees, City-owned groves, solid waste removal and recycling, code enforcement, the maintenance of our street lights, traffic signals and streets as well as oversight of the Downtown area, Redlands Municipal Airport and Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery. All services and support are coordinated under comprehensive Green Initiatives.

The Redlands Fire Department strives to be a progressive organization that leads the community in public safety. The service we provide is of the highest quality and recognized as “The Redlands Way.”

Human Resources

The Office of Human Resources and Risk Management business hours are Monday – Thursday 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and every other Friday 8:00 a.m.  to 5:00 p.m.  Please contact the appropriate staff member listed on the “Contact the Human Resources Staff” page or the main office at 909-798-7514 if you need assistance or to schedule an appointment.

Employees may also utilize the 24 hour drop box located next to the HR entrance to submit documents at any time.

Management Services / Finance Department

The Management Services / Finance Department is comprised of the divisions of Finance, Revenue, Utility Billing Customer Service, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Innovation & Technology.

Municipal Utilities and Engineering

The mission of the Municipal Utilities & Engineering Department (MUED) is to provide reliable service to the community with professionalism, integrity, accountability, quality, transparency, and innovation.  MUED plans, designs, constructs, operates, and maintains Redlands’ physical infrastructure for the residents and businesses in the City, making our community a desirable place to live, work, and visit.

Office of the City Manager

The Office of the City Manager oversees the city departments and administers the day-to-day operations of the city. It is headed by the City Manager. Emergency Management, the Public Information Office and Purchasing are also part of the Office of the City Manager.
