City Council Members
The City of Redlands is a general law city incorporated in 1888. It is governed by the City Council/City Manager form of government.
The City Council consists of five representatives chosen at large by the electorate. The Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem are then elected by the Council. The Mayor and Council set policy, enact legislation, and adopt the budget under which the city operates. The City Manager, appointed by the Council, is the chief administrator for the City.

As part of the City’s continuing efforts to increase interaction with residents and promote transparency in City affairs, the City Council holds informal meetings on Saturdays several times a year - “Coffee with the Council/Walking with the Council.” Council Members rotate attendance, with two members at each meeting. When are City Council Meetings?
Regular City Council meetings are held on the first and third Tuesday of each month at 5:00p.m. (closed session) and 6:00p.m. (open session) at the City of Redlands, City Council Chambers, 35 Cajon, Ste 2, Redlands and at such other times as special meetings may be called. Should a regularly scheduled Council meeting fall on a holiday, the meeting shall be conducted the next regular business day.
What City Council Member represents my area?
The members of the Redlands City Council are elected "at large" and not by districts or wards. What this means is that each Council member represents the entire City and not just one area or neighborhood.

How do I run for City Council?
City Council elections are held in November of even-numbered years and are consolidated with the Statewide General Election. The nomination period for candidates running for a City Council seat begins in mid-July and concludes in mid-August. How do I get an item placed on the City Council Agenda?
Only the City Council Members, City Manager, and Department Heads have the authority to place items on the City Council agenda.
How do I receive copies of the Council agendas?
There are three ways to receive copies of City Council agendas:
- Go to the Meeting Agendas & Video page
- Pick up a hard copy of the agenda at the City Clerks Office, 35 Cajon Street, Suite 4
- Provide a supply of self-addressed, stamped envelopes to the City Clerk and we will mail a copy of the agenda (without attachments).
How do I address the Council about an item on the agenda?
Before the Council meeting, complete a speaker slip and return it to the City Clerk. The speaker slips are kept with the official record of the City Council meeting and are used if the City Council or staff needs to contact you at a later date.
How do I express my concern for an item not on the agenda?
Every City Council agenda provides time for a Public Comment period. This is your opportunity to address the Council on any subject matter that is within the jurisdiction of the City Council, and that does not appear as a regular agenda item. The City Council is not permitted (by law) to take any action on issues raised during the Public Comment period, but they may refer matters to the staff for response or official action at a future date.

All city ordinances are contained in the Municipal Code. The Redlands Municipal Code is available online is fully indexed and searchable.

Registration forms are available at most post offices, libraries, or an on-line voter registration request form is available at the Secretary of State's web-site www.sos.ca.gov.
