MILITARY BANNER RECOGNITION PROGRAM

The Hometown Heroes Military Recognition Program was created to recognize and honor Redlands residents and their immediate family members who are actively serving our country in the United States Armed Forces.

Criteria:
To participate, honoree must meet the following criteria:

  • Active duty member of the United States Armed Forces; and
  • A current resident of Redlands or an immediate family member of a resident of Redlands  (wife/husband, son/daughter, grandchild, son-in-law/daughter-in-law).

Process:
Applications will be accepted on an on-going basis. Banners will be raised in the order that the application was received.

Applications must include an official military photo of the honoree, verification of military status, proof of residency and an Application fee of $175.00

To verify active military status, click Department of Defense Verification and submit a copy of the verification page with your application. There are no fees associated with this verification.

Application can be emailed to emarin@cityofredlands.org or mailed to:

City of Redlands
Attn: Hometown Heroes Banner Program
35 Cajon Street Suite 10
Redlands, CA 92373

Installation:
Location of the banner will be at the City’s discretion. Every effort will be made to accommodate the location desires of the applicant. Banners will be installed as adequate numbers of applications warrant a cost effective installation, but no less than twice a year, in May and November.

Banners will be displayed for a period of a minimum of one year. When a banner is removed from display, it will be presented to the honoree or applicant at a future City Council meeting.

If, after one year, the honoree is still on active duty in the Armed Forces and the condition of the banner is no longer worthy of display, the banner can be replaced for a fee of $90.00.

Submittal Period/Installation Date:

  • Applications submitted May through September will be installed in November; and
  • Applications submitted October through April will be installed in May.

Donations:
Donations in support of the Military Banner Program can be sent to:
