Saturday music scheduled for holiday season on Ed Hales stage
Music will fill the air Saturdays downtown as musical groups perform on the stage at Ed Hales Park, at the corner of State and Fifth streets, and carolers bring Christmas music along State Street.
Musical duo Todd & Barbi, The Memoirs, students from the Sixth Street School of Music and Christa Vallez, are all scheduled to perform Saturdays until Dec. 22.
This Saturday, Dec. 8, The Sixth Street School of Music will be on the stage at the park from noon until 3 p.m., followed by the Memoirs from 3 to 4 p.m.
On Dec. 15, musical duo Todd & Barbi will perform from 10 a.m. to noon. Carolers from the Sixth Street School of Music will be performing on State Street from noon to 3 p.m. The Memoirs will take the stage at Ed Hales Park from 2 to 3 p.m.
On Dec. 22, The Memoirs will perform from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by Christa Vallez from 4 to 5 p.m.
The Memoirs perform “music from the greatest generation,” including more than 300 popular songs from the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s. Musicians include Bill Williams on the violin, Conrad Edayan on guitar, George Miller on the bass guitar, Lew Lemon on keyboards and Henry Lazano on drums.
Todd & Barbi have been singing, playing guitar and keyboards, writing music and recording together since 1972. Married in 1977, they now enjoy performing their unique vocal harmonies for service organizations such as the Elks, Eagles, and American Legion, as well as a variety of community festivals.
