Report Graffiti, Potholes, Illegal dumping and more!

One man is in custody and police are searching for a second suspect after a resident surprised two burglars in his home Wednesday morning.

The resident returned to his home in the 1200 block of Placer Street at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, and saw a gray Honda Civic parked in front of the house. When he entered the home he discovered two men inside.

The surprised burglars fled the house in opposite directions. Officers responded and located one suspect south of the residence. Police searched the area but did not locate the second suspect. The vehicle in front of the house was found to have been stolen from San Bernardino.

A neighbor reported seeing the men approach the house, wearing reflective vests and carrying a “posse box” type clipboard. After knocking on the front door, the men went to the rear of the house where investigators say they pried open a door and gained entry.

Police arrested 25-year-old Luis Castillo Jr., of Redlands, for burglary, possession of stolen property and auto theft. He was transported to Central Detention Center in San Bernardino. Bail was set at $75,000.
