Mandatory Commercial Recycling
Welcome to the City of Redlands' Mandatory Commercial Recycling Information Page!
From this webpage, we hope to be able to answer all of your questions related to the new Mandatory Commercial Recycling regulation, but we realize you may need more information. We are here to serve you: 909-798-7529 or mudcustomerservice@cityofredlands.org.
For information on what Commercial Recycling is, please see our brochure.

MANDATORY COMMERCIAL RECYCLING LAW
ASSEMBLY BILL 341
WHAT IS ASSEMBLY BILL 341 (AB 341)?
AB 341 requires mandatory commercial recycling throughout California beginning July 1, 2012. Businesses and multi-family dwellings of 5 units or more, that receive refuse collection services and that generate 4 cubic yards or more of solid waste per week must now subscribe for collection of recyclables.
Under the law, Redlands businesses must separate recyclables from trash and then either subscribe to City of Redlands recycling services, self-haul their recyclables, or contract with a permitted private recyclers.
The City of Redlands is required to provide a number of programs to meet the requirements of the bill. They include a public outreach program to inform their businesses about the mandate, monitoring the progress of each business, notifying them if they are not in compliance, and reporting to the State. The California Department of Resources Recycling and Recovery (CalRecycle) will oversee the mandatory commercial recycling program.
We all know that recycling helps protect our environment. Help yourself and the community by recycling. Call (909) 798-7529 to start service now or, if you need help getting started, to schedule a free waste assessment from one of the City’s recycling experts.
For more information on Mandatory Commercial Recycling (AB 341) please see the California Resources, Recycling, and Recovery (CalRecycle) website at http://www.calrecycle.ca.gov/climate/Recycling/default.htm
