The City of Redlands has been an entitlement community with respect to the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program since 2009.  This Federal program is administered by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).  The program allocates funds to eligible cities and counties throughout the nation to assist low and moderate-income households and neighborhoods.  The national objectives of the program are to provide decent housing, create suitable living environments and expand economic opportunities for low and moderate-income people.

The grant funds may be used for activities such as housing rehabilitation, affordable homeownership assistance, neighborhood improvement, community services, as well as community development activities such as the construction or rehabilitation of community facilities and economic development.  The City's program is administered by the Development Services Department.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT GRANT AND LOAN PROGRAMS

Helping Redlands' Businesses Grow and Prosper....Applications are now being accepted for the recently approved CDBG funded Microenterprise Assistance Grant Program (MAP) and the Economic Development Loan Program (EDLP).  These programs were created to assist with new business establishment or expansion of an existing business within the City of Redlands in the form of a low interest loan or a grant.  Both programs have public benefit requirements related to low- and moderate-income persons.
