The Joslyn Senior Center, located at 21 Grant Street in Redlands, is a multipurpose facility providing a variety of social, instructional, health and recreational services to Redlands residents 50 years of age and older.

There are meeting rooms, a billiard room with four tables, an auditorium with stage, a kitchen and outdoor patio. The building provides total accessibility to handicapped individuals. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is available after hours and on weekends for your rental needs.

Established in 1977, Joslyn Senior Center provides daily activities and there are seasonal monthly programs (some with a small fee added). Spring events include: a rummage sale; Annual Patron Celebration and a Step-Out Walk and Breakfast. Summer events include a Step Out Walk and Breakfast. Fun in the fall includes: an African Safari Dinner Dance, a Halloween Dinner Dance and costume contest and a Thanksgiving Luncheon. Winter programs include: a Jingle Bell Rock Dinner Dance and a Christmas Luncheon. Joslyn also has an annual Volunteer Luncheon.

Billiard Room

The billiard room is a hot spot of activity. There are 4 beautiful classic 9 ft. hardwood pool tables for anyone to enjoy and they are constantly surrounded by some of the friendliest people in Redlands.

Multi-Purpose Dining Room and Community Meeting Rooms

The center offers meeting rooms, an auditorium with stage, a kitchen and an outdoor patio that support 56 different on-site activities each week. The building provides total accessibility to handicapped individuals. Plan your next wedding, reception, or other special event at the Joslyn Senior Center.

Computer Lab

From Internet classes to instructional and informational classes, the Joslyn Computer Lab has it all. Open to the public, when classes are not in session; there is a $3.00 fee per day for use of the computers. For your paper needs paper is available in the office at fifteen cents per sheet.

Come and visit the computer fun zone in the front lobby provided by Digi-Info Systems Corp. A Pentium III Computer is equipped with complete software and hardware for the ultimate in game fun! Available for use and free of charge.

Art Programs



Decorative Painters

This is a free class where you can meet with a group of painters for fun and encouragement. Instruction is not included except on occasions when guest instructors are invited for special art classes.

Aerobicize To Video

Tai Chi

Enrichment Classes



Beginning Computer Classes

These are on-going classes taught by Jack Walker. You will learn the basics of word processing, spreadsheets, and database, while using Microsoft Word, Works, Excel and Word Perfect. Computers may also be programmed for Microsoft Power Point and Publisher. Individual instruction. Open lab time is available for practice.

Beginning Conversational French

This introductory course aids the student to develop those oral communication skills necessary to travel comfortably in countries where French is a first language. The student develops the ability to speak the language using appropriate idiomatic constructions and appropriate conversational skills. This class is highly recommended for those students without previous experience in the French language.

Joslyn Line Dancers

A long-standing fun, social group that dances in colorful costumes to a variety of music and performs at special events around Southern California. This performance group has won many awards. Donations appreciated.

Social Activities



Chess Club

This program is designed to build strategy and concentration for ages 12 years and older. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Participants must have knowledge of the game. Sign up in the office.

Bingo!

Meets every Friday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. and cost .50 per card. Ten games are played and you can win CASH prizes. Come early to play cards, socialize and enjoy lunch prepared by the Center for a $2.00 fee. Drawings for free cards and the "Basket of the Month" are held at the end of the month. Volunteers facilitate this activity.

Joslyn Senior Center has a dance every 3rd Wednesday , every other month, with music provided by Dan Damon or the Pastels. Music consists of Ballroom, Country, and mixers.

Facility Rentals



Looking for a special place for a memorable wedding, family reunion or company picnic? Do you need space to hold a seminar, meeting or banquet? The Redlands Recreation Bureau has just the place for you. Please refer to page 40 for an application.

Reservations / Refunds

All payments and deposits are due, in full, two weeks prior to the event date in order to secure the reservation. All cancellations must be made 14 days in advance of the reservation date. All refunds, except cleaning deposit, shall be subject to a ten percent (10%) administrative fee. You must also provide your own liability insurance.

Joslyn Senior Center

The perfect setting for your special events. The multi-purpose room is ideal for banquets, receptions and dances.

 The facility has a full service kitchen. The facility can accomodate groups from 15 to 200 with banquet seating for 118. For more information please call 909-798-7550.

Rental Rates:

Facility Rooms: Fee

Multi-Purpose Room: $25.00 an hour

Conference Classrooms: $15.00 an hour

Kitchen: $50.00 per use

Staff Attendant Fee: $20.00 an hour

(Mandatory)

A refundable cleaning/security deposit of $200.00 shall be required of all facility renters.
