For the first time since March 2020, meetings of the Redlands City Council will be open to in-person attendance by members of the public beginning with the July 6 meeting.

In response to public health restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic, the City Council imposed restrictions last year, first limiting public attendance to allow for social distancing at the March 17, 2020, meeting and then closing the meetings to public attendance beginning in April 2020.

Since that time, the City Council has continued to meet online with members of the public able to view the meetings on Redlands’ government access cable TV channels and streaming online on the City’s website. Provisions were made to allow the public to submit written comments, which were read aloud during the public comment period by the City Clerk and City staff. Meetings of all other City boards, commissions and committees also were conducted online.

Following the State reopening on June 15, the City Council approved plans to reopen Council meetings without social distancing requirements. Public comments will again be taken in person.

Advisory boards, commissions and committees will also resume in-person meetings following the Council’s July 6 meeting.

The City Council meets on the first and third Tuesday of each month beginning with a 5 p.m. closed session, followed by open session at 6 p.m. Meetings are televised live on Redlands TV Channel 3 for Spectrum cable customers and Channel 35 for Frontier cable customers. Meetings are also streamed live and archived for later viewing on the City of Redlands website at www.cityofredlands.org. Replays on Redlands TV are scheduled at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday and 9 a.m. Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
