Department Organization
The Redlands Police Department is authorized 91 sworn officers and 47 full-time professional staff members. Department members work collaboratively toward enhancing public safety through trust, innovation, community partnerships, and excellence in service.
In addition to exercising risk-focused policing efforts to control crime before it occurs, the Redlands Police Department also employs traditional crime suppression and enforcement concepts such as street crime/gang suppression, narcotics, and traffic patrols. Additionally, the department boasts a robust Citizen Volunteer Unit with approximately 40 members who provide increased police visibility and crime deterrence through vacation house checks, after-hours commercial patrols, and almost constant random patrol in marked cars. The department also has active Police Reserve, Chaplain, and Explorer Units that augment the department’s regular patrol forces. The numerous volunteer members and the hours that they contribute to the Redlands Police Department are reflections of the department and community’s strong commitment to each other and to the safety and well-being of the city.
